Vista Law Enforcement Training and Consulting, LLC, in cooperation with Missouri State Public Safety Training Center, has scheduled this 8-hour POST-approved training program, titled “Defensive Driving Techniques/Emergency Vehicle Operations.” This training program is presented by current and retired first responder personnel who are experts in defensivedriving and emergency vehicle operations.
Topics include:
• Missouri statutes and U.S. Supreme Court rulings regarding emergency vehicle operations
• Department policies and procedures in emergency vehicle operations and vehicle pursuits
• The differences between “Civil Liability and Criminal Liability,” and the consequences of operating an emergency vehicle in a “negligent” or “reckless” manner
• “Vehicle dynamics,” regarding the physical limitations of a motor vehicle to prevent loss of control by a first responder
• Proper methods in the operation of an emergency vehicle during regular duties or operations
• Proper tactics and techniques in operating an emergency vehicle during emergency vehicle operations, and during low and high-speed vehicle operations
• Practical (low-speed) driving exercises and techniques observed and evaluated by instructors
This program is designed for all first responders who operate emergency vehicles. Attendees must supply an agency-approved emergency vehicle (multiple individuals from the same agency may bring one vehiclefrom their respective agency).
