Missouri State University in collaboration with Edu-Safe USA has developed training to assist schools with better addressing the issue of bullying and harassment.

What we know about bullying and harassment in schools:

• Negatively impacts learning and academic achievement
• Creates disruptions and leads to unnecessary discipline problems
• Impacts parents and the community's view of school(s)
• Is one of the leading reasons schools are litigated
• Often originates in the home or workplace and is learned or imitated
• Causes some students to stay home or not come to school
• Cyber-harassment is an issue for students, parents, and communities

This workshop is a train the trainer. The goal is to provide attendees with the tools to return to their schools and implement strategies to minimize the behavior through educating all stakeholders. In this workshop attendees will be provided with:

• Communication strategies in working with parents
• Investigation methods including check sheets to assist in being thorough
• Novel and productive strategies to engage students on the topic
• Litigation protection strategies to protect the school and staff - including on and off campus
• Response strategies for when the behavior is observed based on general grade level
• Strategies for educating staff
• Electronic scenarios of bullying events to use with staff training
• How to work with students and parents to reduce electronic bullying
