Join us for a Lunch & Learn session focused on business preparedness for active shooter events. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, based on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT, offers essential strategies, practical guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Research shows that businesses are the highest targeted locations for these incidents. This course will cover key topics, including active shooter data, the history and prevalence of these events, civilian response options, medical considerations, and best practices for conducting drills.

Bill Sandel, PhD, is an Associate Professor and the Assistant School Director for Outreach and Partnerships in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Missouri State University. His research focuses on law enforcement tactics, use of force, police training, active shooter events, and conservation criminology. Dr. Sandel works with a number of agencies to provide researchbased active shooter training. He is part of a team that has received over $375,000 in funding for training throughout the state of Missouri. Prior to working at MSU, Dr. Sandel served as the research specialist at the ALERRT Center and still works closely with the research department on a number of projects.
